Digital X-Rays

Digital X-Rays Pasadena

Detect hidden problems quickly and comfortably!

Do X-Rays Help?

Dental x-rays or radiographs are very important. They allow the dentist to see things about your oral health that cannot be seen by the naked eye. These items include cysts (sacks of fluid that form on the roots of teeth), cancerous and non-cancerous tumors, hidden decay that occurs between teeth, tartar buildup below the gum line, quality and fit of dental restorations that extend between the teeth, and the location of teeth that haven’t grown all the way in.

By using an x-ray to diagnose these problems, we can help save you money in the long run from surgeries or other treatments that might become necessary if we didn’t find the problem. In some cases, where dental x-rays show the location of tumorous growths, x-rays can be responsible for saving your life.

Are Dental X-Rays Safe?

Modern dental x-ray machines are very safe. At Prestige Dental in Pasadena, we use only state-of-the-art, low radiation machines, and our digital sensors are very sensitive, significantly reducing your exposure compared to traditional film X-rays. In addition, we follow strict protocols such as using shield aprons to reduce your exposure to as low as possible.

The amount of radiation exposure your body receives on an airplane flight from Los Angeles to New York exceeds the amount of exposure you will receive from a modern dental x-ray machine. Contrast this minimal exposure with the risk of not finding an illness or problem until it is too late, and you can see why we prescribe regular diagnostic x-rays.

What Advantages Do Digital X-rays Offer?

Modern digital X-rays offer several advantages over traditional film-based X-rays. At Prestige Dental, your safety and comfort are paramount to us, and we use only high-quality digital X-rays in the office.

  • Greatly reduced X-ray exposure dose.
  • Sensors have smooth, round edges and are more comfortable than film.
  • The doctor can “show and tell” during exams. You can see the images of your mouth and understand your dental conditions easier.
  • The image is visible instantly, speeding up exam and treatment time.
  • More environmentally friendly: digital X-rays require no chemicals to process the images like film.
