How Do I Know If I Have Cavities?

Cavities are caused by bacteria, acids and food residues that, mixed up with saliva, can deteriorate dental tissue. Bacterial plaque is mainly produced by sugars that are in your food and stay in your mouth.

Every time we eat, bacteria produce strong acids that dissolve tooth enamel. Cavities are also caused by having incorrect oral hygiene or by smoking or drinking too much alcohol. Cavities are a common problem, as it is estimated that one in three adults has them.
