What can you eat with Invisalign on Halloween?

Halloween is one of the most fun and exciting times of the year, and Invisalign patients do not have to worry about their Halloween being interrupted by orthodontics. In fact, there are only a few things Invisalign wearers should remember during the spooky season, so treatment is not derailed for one super-sweet holiday.

We know what you might be asking yourself: can I eat my trick-or-treat candies during Halloween while on an Invisalign treatment? The answer is yes! While traditional braces can cause difficulty when eating certain foods, Invisalign does not have these same restrictions. Invisalign patients can eat whatever they like without worrying about whether or not it will damage their braces.

While you can eat all that you want, you must always brush your teeth before putting their aligners back in, especially if they have been eating candy. Bacteria on the teeth can cause plaque to form and tooth decay, so it is important to brush and floss regularly. It may be tempting to skip brushing here and there, but trust us - proper oral hygiene is worth the extra effort in the long run.

Another common question we frequently receive is if you can take off your aligners during the whole Halloween night for parties. We do not recommend this. It is crucial to wear your Invisalign aligners for 20 to 22 hours every day, which leaves little room for anything else. Therefore, you need to be mindful of how much time you are taking them off for treat-or-tricking.

And remember, once the spooky costumes have been put away and all the candy has been eaten, it's time to start thinking about your dental health. After a holiday like Halloween, where sugary treats are plentiful, it is important to schedule a dental check-up. This can help ensure that you do not have any cavities or other problems caused by all that sugar.

If you have any questions about how Invisalign will affect your Halloween, be sure to ask your Pasadena dentist, Dr. B. He will be happy to help you make the most of this spooky holiday!
