Tooth Removal

Extractions (Tooth Removal)

Extractions (Tooth Removal)

Remove problem teeth to eliminate discomfort or infection.

Advances in dental technology have made it possible to save damaged teeth now more than ever before. However, when teeth have severe decay, infection, gum disease, or fractures, restoration of the tooth may not be possible or may not be economically feasible. In certain situations, dental implants may offer a much more durable and predictable outcome than attempting to save a badly compromised tooth and will have a similar treatment cost. In these situations, removal of the questionable tooth will make the most sense.

At Prestige Dental, Dr. Bouzoghlanian and staff will discuss your tooth replacement options before removing any compromised teeth. These options may include dental implants, fixed bridges, partial dentures, or full dentures. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each option and help you select the treatment you feel is best for you. Let us bring the beauty and function back to your smile!

Occasionally, in situations of severe crowding of teeth, some teeth may also require removal to create space and align the teeth with braces (orthodontic treatment).

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Other reasons to remove teeth include impacted wisdom teeth. Many people do not have enough room in their jaws to allow wisdom teeth to erupt correctly. As a result, these teeth may become stuck below the gums or may erupt incorrectly, emerging towards the cheeks or tongue. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause root damage, decay, and gum disease on the neighboring molars, cause pressure and crowding of the other teeth, become infected or decayed, develop cysts, cause cheek biting, traumatize the tongue and surrounding gums, and cause pain, swelling, and infection.

If you have problematic wisdom teeth, please call us at Prestige Dental. (626) 577-2017 Dr. Bouzoghlanian and staff will perform and evaluation and remove them, or refer you to a specialist where required.
